Postcards from Japan: Spring 2014

Alhamdulillah I had another chance to visit Japan this year, this time I went with my mother on a very special month, it's was on April, 2014. And it actually a perfect time to see the famous cherry blossom. Finally I could see it directly by myself!

We went to several cities in Japan; Kyoto, Tokyo, Fujiyama for almost 2 weeks there. Here are some pictures I took, really want to share all the pictures but of course I can't because I took hundreds of them. Hope you like it =)

Me with my mom at one of must visit place: Universal Studio Japan

Cherry blossom-tree in Kyoto, not like I imagined before, the colour is white not pink just like what we usually see on postcards etc. But from what i heard from my tour guide, pink cherry blossom are late bloomer. However, white or pink, it just really beautiful to see.

This time  when I visited one of Temple in Kyoto

Pictures from Asakusa Temple ; must try their food stalls and souvenirs! They have an unique souvenirs one; wooden made that can't be found in other places.

Pictures taken from Ueno Park, Tokyo. On April or when it's time cherry blossom's full bloom, Japanese people have this tradition to watch it together and celebrate it with their friends, family, or work mates. And finally I found the baby pink cherry blossom one! Alhamdulillah.

It's time to have a tea with one of my inspiration, Audrey Hepburn. =)
In Tokyo they do have a Madame Tussaud Museum, worth to visit if you have a chance.

And as a Disney fans of course this one is a must visit place, Tokyo Disneyland! Alhamdulillah the weather was so nice that day and I really enjoy myself strolling around and playing inside.

That's a little postcards from my trip last Spring, will posting more for my next trip insyaAllah!

Back to School for the Second Time

After my graduation from LaSalle College Jakarta in 2013, I've been busy developing my brand, Dena by Anindita. But then I realise there are some other things I need to learn. In LaSalle I've already learnt many things, but when I tried to make a custom party dresses orders there always a problem occur.

Then I decided to search another place to study how to make a good party dress. The answer came on August 2014. I saw from Instagram, one of the famous Indonesian designer, Hengki Kawilarang open fashion courses that will start on September 2014. I met him, Hengki Kawilarang, one year ago when we were in Brunei for ASEAN Consumer Fair 2013. My booth location was right next to his booth. I'm really nervous the first time I saw him because what he already achieved at that time is huge, he became Indonesian artists favourite. His works are really remarkable, you can google it yourself his name to know more about his works. But despite his achievement he is really a humble person. Long story short, I decided to take HK Fashion Course.

What I took is Advance Haute Couture Program, because I have already had one year study in LaSalle so I didn't need to take Basic Haute Couture Program first. Both programs only for 2 months, twice a week. At first I have a little doubt because seems like impossible only in 2 months to learn making a Haute Couture dress/gown.

But now I realise that I'm wrong, totally wrong. After 1 month, I already know well how to make a good clothes, I know how to make clothes that I see on Fashion TV, on magazine, etc. Not only ordinary clothes, party dresses, I can make a wedding gown(!). 1 month left and I know there are many excitements ahead.

First day

Draping

He remembered me as 'Dena' and I've been called Dena since the first day =)

World in My Eyes

I see a lot of things happening surrounds me. Not only all the good things, but also bad things. But my eyes refuse to focus on the bad things, so I create my own imaginary world. The world that even there are a lot of differences but never declare war from each other. The world that there are no bad people, only good people that make a mistake that still can be fixed. Yes, that kind of world is not exist. But I choose to believe it.

Maybe we live in the world that full of disappointments, full of anger, and other negative feelings. But how about sees it from another perspective? For example, disappointment comes from high expectation, then we can lower our expectation. A really simple thing but many of us can't do it easily.

What happen? Nothing.
It's just the world keep moving around, time still running, and we often forgot many beautiful things surround us. When you first wake up, are you still breathing normally? Be thankful for the chance to be able living another day. When you driving or on your way to school or office, are the sun still shine and the sky still blue? Be thankful that we still can see that.

What is happiness for you? Being rich? Travel around the world? Own a big company?
Maybe all of that matters, but the first rule being happy is accepting and thankful to whatever happens to us.

Then we can move on to brand new day and new chapter. It's the world in my eyes. I'm in the positive world that I create it by myself.

PS: Happy Idul Adha everyone!

A little bit Introduction

Hello!

My name is Damayanti Anindita, you can call me Anin. An architect graduate that now work as a fashion designer. I'm falling in love with art since I was a little girl, my favourite subject is drawing, really love to sing, and love watching a concert, theatre, or ballet shows. Beside drawing or sketching, other thing I love is making things, I mean anything, it could be just making a poem, make a mini poster, make a song, or make a simple dish in my spare time.

Why I'm working as a fashion designer instead working as an architect? Because since 2009; the first time I fell in love with fashion and with my 2 college mates we created a fashion blog together called FiMiNin (fiminin.blogspot.com). And my love for fashion grew bigger ever since. And then I decided to focus being a fashion designer since November 2011 when I debut my own fashion label, Dena.

I made this personal blog on 2011 but many times I doubt myself to begin writing until now 3 years later. This blog contains random thoughts and pictures from my point of view.
